Trailer trip to Canberra

I finally left my shed at Scotty’s place in Tolga – a great place to stop, work on my Troopy and do some caretaking work (thanks heaps, Scotty)

Troopy and trailer at Tolga

It has taken me 3 1/2 months to travel 20 kms; then, from 13th – 16th July 2023, I drove to Canberra (about 2600 kms)

It was a lovely, albeit slow and fuel-heavy trip – the trailer was quite heavy and my Troopy with the naturally aspirated 1HZ motor is not noted for its power.

Col (my brother-in-law) once opined “it doesn’t accelerate – just gathers momentum”. That was about the OKA we owned a few years ago but is just as apt for the Troopy.

I’ve just decided I’ll call her “Momentum” – seems fitting.

We left Tolga on a cold (for Tolga) drizzly day – stopped for a break at Forty Mile Scrub

I camped on the side of the road a bit south of Charters Towers – had a lovely night’s sleep

The rest of the trip was pleasant but pretty uneventful.

I stopped for fuel somewhere and a man came over to me looking at the trailer – he said, with admiration, “That’s the best-wrapped trailer I have ever seen!”
