Past Wanderings

I’ve spent the majority of my life wandering and rambling around Australia. Growing up in Tasmania, I spent many weekends camping and bushwalking.
At 18, I hitchhiked around Australia for a few years. At various stages of my life, usually after a breakup of a relationship, I’d go travelling again.
I’m trying to remember those trips.
I’ll include some non-travel-related memories because I want this to be a personal diary, too.
I have hitchhiked extensively and travelled by motorbike, car, 4WD, train, and plane.
Vehicles I’ve travelled in (in rough chronological order):
- Datsun 1600 (Melbourne to Perth)
- MGA Sportscar (Victorian Wineries trip)
- Datsun 180B (trip to Cape York)
- Holden Stationwagon (Tassie, Victoria, NSW)
- Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 (big trip to see Lake Eyre in flood)
- BMW R80GS motorbike (many trips all over Australia)
- Landrover Series IIa V8 (East Coast and across to WA)
- OKA 4WD truck (up and down in WA, New Holland Track, Tanami Desert Track, Tassie, Cape York, far North Queensland)
- 1999 Toyota Troopy (current vehicle)
I’ve spent the majority of my life rambling around Australia, camping and bushwalking when I was younger, mostly in Tasmania.
Hitchhiking around Australia and then travelling in various vehicles, interspersed with some settling down with families and relationships.
From the ages of 18 to 32 I drank to excess and took other drugs.
I want to tell the story of my travels on this page.
